Despite ash de-railing some people's flights when they got to Singapore we managed to sneak on through to Frankfurt and from there with Ryan Air to Santander and a bus to Bilbao.
Hopefully I can return to this post and add the photos for Bilbao but if I wait until I get the camera download set up I will never write anything.
Bilbao was very well worth the visit. We had only 24hours there and stayed close to the river, downtown and Guggenheim areas but they were marvellous. The Guggenheim is a thing to behold and I can see why it has made Bilbao the destination it is. I have never seen a building like it and that is before looking at really vibrant exciting exhibitions within it. Anish Kapoor is a new favourite for me.
From Bilbao we caught a bus to Pamplona and then a tiny shuttle across the mountains to St Jean Pied de Port. It really is the most gorgeous little picture postcard village and I must get out right now and see it. It is early morning here and very misty so will fins some coffee and then set out.
