This day started with a lovely country walk to Pontferrada and then a hell of a long walk out through the city. The city itself looked nice but walking the outskirts is never my favourite part.
Soon it was back to nice walking though and the town I got to was really nice.
I don´t know why I hadn't clicked into this routine before but What is really nice is to have breakfast after walking for a bit, then checking into an albergue between 1 and 2, having a shower and then having my main meal with the Spanish at 2.30pm. That way you can enjoy a much wider menu than the pigrim dinners. Then at 7.30 or so just having a light snack.
The suggestion was one serve of octopus, accompanied by a small plate of potato and tinto.
I said yes to all three and am still getting through it all. I would defy even Garth Atkinson to each that much potato at a sitting and what I thought was a glass of wine at 3.50 was a full bottle. Flippen heck. I had it for dinner and again for breakfast. I am over it now!
Made a post comment to Jo and Bruce´s re the bed bugs already, but one more thing. I was so badly bitten and the big blisters were now getting well formed. I couldn't get at the ones on my back so had to make do with popping and treating all the ones on my front and sleeping face down all night.

good to hear you are taking your medicine!
ReplyDelete...according to Bill Ralston, Pinot Gris is "a nice breakfast wine".
