OK here is a bit of a new thing. I checked in here in Astorga very late in the day (well after 4pm) and was just going to be glad to find a bed in the town. I cam to the municipal albergue and not only did they have a bed it was a bottom bunk and I got a check in photo! How is that for new age service!
I was actually tireder than I looked . The guide was all wrong today. I walked 30km which in itself wasn´t so bad but I had paced myself for stops that weren´t there and for a total 23km. Also I decided to try trout soup at a place that had been recommended. It was disgusting.
I only ate a few spoonfuls but it seemed to affect my walking from that point on. Actually the lady came out to check on me just minutes after she had served it. I had already pushed it to the far corner of the table and was getting my pack ready to go again. She couldn´t understand a word of English so I felt I could break out an Albertism and 'I have tried, and I just can´t like it'.
Her response was to bring me the comments book and a big slab of tortilla- Bless her she was trying but it truly was horrid and that is not something I would say lightly.

You are a long way across Spain on my map now... I measured - you have walked 18 inches!- that is a long way even driving AND it's a big map....love Jo
ReplyDeletePS The scale is purposely left out as I couldn't have you doing fancy calculations...
Keep it up Jen. It is quite an odyssey and it must be tempting to go off in search of Sapin's other attractions.
ReplyDeletela trucha eh? i read in the economist this week that trucha and salmon will be the first GE animals to be foisted onto a hungry world. god only know how those suckers will taste.
ReplyDeleteanyway, thanks for the portrait jen - you're looking very fine indeed. hope its also feeling that way. cheers, john
