Villamayor del Rio to Villafranca

Villamayor was truly lovely albergue where the people had a huge vege garden that they made a lot of the dinner from. I managed to pick a few big bunches of mint and crush them up to refresh my boots´.

Dinner was out of this world but far too much and I was almost sorry to have to move on.
The Camino does go through pretty much everything and petrol stations, it would seem are no exception. We literally walked right past the pumps.

Arriving in Villafranca we checked in to a perfectly nice albergue but then discovered there was an even better one which was actually 10 bunks in a section of a nice hotel.

I found someone who I had seen a couple of times along the way, Carena, a Swede with great English. I first met her with her brother at Orisson on the first night. The brother I could do without; a tad full of himself and saying he was just wlking with Karena to Pamplona to get her started. He damn near killed her, pushing her along at 42km the next day and so on until she was ready to pack it in by the time she got to Pamplona. She had to rest up there for two days before she could start again and again I saw and then she got walking with the east German rower and I thought she was well ahead of me, but no. The rower pushed on and Karena collapsed again for 2 days in Azofra.

When she popped up in Villafranca it was definitely time to chill and be still. So we went to the nice hotel and spent a happy afternoon making our way through a welcome jug of Sangria.

She is really rather lovely looking but no-one really looks all that great wrapped in a microfibre towel!
