Decided that with the fevery blistery stage over it would be fine to put my back pack on again today. And I was fine.
It was suprisingly cold to begin with that I had to unpack, put on more layers and pack again. Another freezing, though not so wetting mist.
It hasn´t come out well inthis photo but I was really tickled to see a paddock of working scarecrows. They don´t just get to wave their arms in the breeze here. Look at this guy bent over weeding!
I saw the NZ couple again (picked them originally as NZers because of their macpac)
And while we are on the NZ theme; after checking into the albergue I went with an Italian guy to a bar for a late afternoon cerveza. What did we find but the NZ Italy game playing and score 1-1. We both wanted to watch but I was very much prepared to be gracious in defeat. What the hell happened? Should the NZ version be 'We played as always, we didn't lose as ever?' Will it happen again? Does anyone still have any faith in Katie's Bank of Austria?

Good timing at the pub - not exactly a soccer fan myself - but one can't help be excited for the team who from the news reports are apparently doing well when they score just one goal! shows my knowledge of soccer - anyhow they are world news - little ole N Z - and the AB's won at the last game in Carisbrook against Wales on Sat night...
ReplyDeletePics are amazing - fab to have them up! Glad to hear the blisters are healing up... happy trails
ReplyDeleteHi Jen
ReplyDeleteJust got your postcard and so this blog - have been thinking about you and how you were getting on. thought I might hear about blisters on the feet - but no, ears, eyes etc from bedbugs. Hope they're healing now.
Just finished watching the news and it seems that the All Whites are a global phenomenon and being interviewed non-stop by the internationaol media! So, let's hope their success continues on Fri against Paraguay.
Great to see photos and hear some of the interesting people and places.
love
